INTRODUCTION: State
and provincial governments around the world are involving young people in exciting ways.
They are establishing special advisory boards and action committees,
and creating appointed positions for young people to serve in ad hoc
committees and regular legislative programs.
POINT TO PONDER: "We all benefit by having young
people exposed to the 'way things are done' in a democratic society.
Isn’t it time for your board to 'tap the power of youth?'" - Hans
Bernard,
here.
RESOURCES: The following are groups of special
groups of youth-only decision-makers, often assigned to add youth
voice to public policy-making.
