United National Indian Tribal Youth
(UNITY) Youth Advisory Councils UNITY's mission is to foster the spiritual,
mental, physical and social development of Native youth and to help
build a strong, unified and self-reliant Native America through
involving its youth. Native American youth are making great strides in
leadership development. They are doing so through youth councils. Youth
councils are local groups of Native American youth ages 15-24 who come
together for a common purpose. Through youth councils, youth learn
leadership skills while helping others in their communities, tribes or
villages. Youth councils can be sponsored by a tribe, village,
high school, college or church. Youth councils can vary in size from
just a few members to a hundred members. For more information

Seattle Police Precinct Youth Advisory Councils
PYACs provide
an opportunity to play a more active role in public safety. The PYAC's
have direct communication with the Precinct commanders and give first
hand account of their concerns regarding public safety issues and how
they relate to youth. Youth on the councils express their views and
offer suggestions on how the precinct and the community can work
together. For more information visit
